100% of every dollar you donate stays in the greater-Lansing area to support our free student and tutor programs and maintain our meeting spaces.

 

$6.00 covers the cost of a student taking a preparatory GED Ready Test in a single subject.

 

$37.50 covers the cost of a student taking an official GED test in a single subject. 

 

$100 covers the costs of assessing, matching, tutoring, and supporting a student for five weeks of one-to-one tutoring.

​

$174 sponsors one GED student earning their certificate, covering four preparatory and four official tests.

 

Your contribution helps make the dream of achieving personal learning goals a reality. The Reading People, an independent and locally funded nonprofit, runs entirely on donations. All our services are delivered free of charge.

  • Recruit students and tutors;

  • Diagnose student literacy level;

  • Provide tutor training;

  • Match tutors and students and monitor progress;

  • Conduct research for program improvement and evaluation;

  • Collaborate with other agencies and schools;

  • Provide like new/gently used children's books;

  • Paying costs for study materials and testing for GED students;

  • Obtaining "COVID" supplies, such as masks, plexiglass partitions, signage, cleaning supplies, and face guards for tutors
